i read this in a comic...what does "thật là" means.
Is it like an expression or something?

I can see that yơu're learning more spoken Vietnamese through comics.
"thật": real, true, genuine
"chết thật" is an exclamation which can be translated into "Oh dear"or "Oh my". It literally means that "I'm gonna die for real" because the situation is so dramatic/ surprising/ unexpected/ unwanted. Of course, "chết thật" only conveys negative meaning, used to reply someone when you have no idea what else to say.
Eg: A: Anh quên mang theo vé xem phim rồi (I've left the movie ticket home)
B: Chết thật! (Oh no!)
Eg: A:Trời mưa rồi! (It's raining!)
B:Chết thật, mình không mang theo dù! (Oh no,I didn't bring an umbrella)
"thật ra": the truth is...
Eg: A:Thật ra anh đã có vợ và hai con(The truth is I have a wife and two kids).
B: Chết thật (Oh my!)
Thế này: like this
Eg: B tries spring rolls for the first time, so A teaches B how to eat:
Ăn gỏi cuốn như thế này... (Eat springrolls like this...)
Eg: Tại sao tôi khổ như thế này? (Why am I so miserable this like?)

The speaker is surprised because s/he didn't see someone/something before or didn't expect to see someone/something.
Eg: A and B are living in US. A sees B wearing something weird.
A: Cái áo này ở đâu ra thế? (Where did you get this dress?)
B: Đây là áo dài mình mua ở Việt Nam. (this is Ao dai I bought in Vietnam).

kì quái (also kỳ quái): weird, unusual
Eg: phát minh kỳ quái (weird innovation), chuyện kỳ quái (unsusual stories), bản tính kỳ quái (weird characteristic)

thể nào: usually "...thể nào cũng..."- used when you indicate that something would likely/ eventually happen, usually based on your own opinion/judgement

Eg: Nếu không học bài, thể nào cũng bị điểm kém (If you don't study, you'll end up getting bad grade)
Cô ấy đẹp, thể nào cũng lấy được chồng giàu (She's pretty and is likely to get married to a rich man)

thực hiện(formal): to execute,to conduct, to bring about
Eg: thực hiện dự án (to conduct a project), thực hiện cải cách (bring about reformation)

vui: is not only happy but also delighted, glad- opposite of "buồn" (sad)

thấy thật may...
--> feel so lucky

Eg: Tôi thấy thật may(mắn) vì lúc nào cũng được mọi người giúp đỡ (I feel so happy to be helped by everyone all the time).
Eg: Anh thấy thật may mắn vì có em (I feel so lucky to have you)
