1. When was VinaTown.Org established?

- At the beginning of March. Very quietly but we believe that word of mouth bring us more and more visitors.

2. What is the purpose of VinaTown.Org

- To provide free Vietnamese lessons, articles related to Vietnam, its society, culture and people. To create a playground for those who are interested in Vietnamese language and the country, for those who have been or never been to Vietnam, for those who would like to share their experience or learn something new about Vietnam. Whoever you are, Vietnamese or foreigners, living in Vietnam or overseas, you are welcome to join us.

3. What does VinaTown.Org profit from this?

- A lot. Having foreigners being able to speak Vietnamese to their husband, wife, lover, girlfriend, boyfriend, relatives, friends… Having young Vietnamese generations living overseas learn the language and culture of their homeland. Being able to share our experience about Vietnam and learn from your experience. Being able to teach someone something new and learn invaluable lessons back. Last but not least is the feeling of having done something meaningful.

4. I would like to cooperate with / contribute to VinaTown. What should I do?

- Of course, you are welcome to do so. If you are interested in a section, check FAQs there to know more details. 5. Should I be a member of VinaTown.Org? Any privileges or obligations for members?

- Of course, it is suggested that you sign up to be a member of VinaTown.Org so that we can keep track of the users and adjust our website to your need. Registered users can profit from several functions such as making posts in a forum, uploading pictures, receiving latest news or special lessons from the site. In return, members should obey all regulations of the site.

Lessons and Quizzes:

1. Do I have to pay to access Vietnamese lessons and quizzes on the site?

- No, there is totally no charge as we aim to provide free Vietnamese courses for those who really want to learn.

2. How often will a new lesson come up?

- There will be 3 lessons in a month, which are uploaded on the 3^rd, 13^th and 23^rd. This ensures that you have time to study a lesson thoroughly before taking in a new one.

3. Which sources are used to make a lesson?

- All lessons offered in this site are written by Yuht, with great cooperation from MeoNeko on voice and edition.

4. What if I have some questions about the lessons? Or what if I’ve found some mistakes?

5. I have an average command on Vietnamese and would like to join making the lesson. Is it possible?

- It definitely is. You can join your voice in the conversation, write a part of the lesson or submit a Vietnamese proverbs, idioms or quotations that you think interesting for others… Where to start? - Pics related to Việt Nam mostly and not bigger than 1MB (1024 KB).

- We have nothing against your aunt, Xmas or Guatemala but sorry, it's not related to our topic.

1. Who can use the VinaTown.Org forum?

Everyone can read, but only registered users can post.

2. What is the forum about exactly?

It covers all related to Vietnam, Vietnamese, VinaTown and you.

3. What are the sensitive topics to avoid in VinaTown?

Nothing should really be avoided, but consider that you are walking on eggs if you come to talk about politics. You've been warned…

4. So nothing is forbidden?

Insults, racism and discrimination would lead you to be banned from the forum within the minute.

5. I have my own site related to Việt Nam. Can I use the forum to promote it?

Though spam is forbidden, you can introduce your site in a personal and friendly way. It would be nice if you contribute to the forum too, not only using it for promotion.

6. Is there any censorship in the forum?

Not really, but we can decide that a topic goes too far into sensitivity and cut it. But you will be warned if it happens. We are moderators, not censors.

7. Can I upload mp3 files of Vietnamese artists?

The copyright question is still unclear. What's permitted in Việt Nam might be forbidden in the US or so. But you can always share a link to a song to download on a Vietnamese site.

8. Can I use the forum to sell items ?

Yes, if it’s done in a friendly way. I mean : we’re not a commercial site and if you want to make business, there are plenty of better places than VinaTown.Org. But the “Classified” section is for you.

9. Well, I don’t wanna talk about Việt Nam but I’m so talkative that I wanna write about anything. May I or will I be banned ?

Don’t worry, there’s a place in the forum for you too. But just be aware that VinaTown.Org being a place where people meet to talk about Việt Nam, your post might not necessary be the one which will create the most attention. But who knows…
